I really feel Aaron Rodgers acting like a two-year-old he acts like he owns the team and try to be the general manager to when you sign a contract you stick to it he could have waited another year and become a free agent he is no Tom Brady he won lots of Super Bowls what does Aaron Rodgers ever done if he wants to sit out the season that's his business oh by the way you don't get paid if you sit out it would be hard to trade him top free agent. Is over most clubs are trying to sign draft picks Aaron Rodgers will have to take a pay cut on the new team if it was me I would tell Greenbay to tell Rogers go ahead and sit the season out let's see how far you go when out of paycheck

I always knew Aaron Rodgers was still mad at that GM for not resigning Jordy Nelson. Now a #6 WR, basically I think the man just needs a friend in Green Bay, but I just don't understand why is he so emotional about it. And I definitely don't buy this is about draft picks.

Greeny: you said that Rodgers makes half the teams in the league a Super Bowl team.....Problem is that he lost to Garappolo in 2019 and Brady this year. He couldn't get the Packers over the hump. As for Demovsky, back in 2008 it was a widely held belief that the Vikings tampered with Favre directly after he "retired" and never filed the paperwork but went back to Hattiesburg. Rob also ignores that Clay Matthews resulted from that 3rd round pick. The jets were a contender but they were no where near a Super Bowl team. They were 9-7 and 3rd in the east. Just Greeny with no sense of reality

Think the Packers should hold their ground. I don't agree on everything that Terry Bradshaw said, but he's right on holding their ground. Rodgers is turning 38, if he retires, he owes Packers $30 million, and Packers move on. Giving him an extension and paying $40+ million, likely won't get Packers to the SB as it would eat too much of the cap. If Packers want to win the SB then build a solid team, find a good QB (not generational and pay them like they're the chosen one).Look at the SB teams over the last 10-15 years. Past SB QBs out of the NFC were Wilson on rookie contract, Garoppolo, Goffe, Foles, Eli, Cam Newton, Matt Ryan, are generational talents maybe with the exception of Wilson. There's very few top QBs that have top QB pay. Brady outside of 2007 and 2011, doesn't take the such a huge chunk of the cap and the only one that's consistently appears in SB. If Brady demanded top of the market salary like Wilson or Rodgers, I don't think he would be in SB 10 times.

From a Green Bay Resident. True, we were all on Favre's side back then. If this thing with Rodgers went down say 3 years ago it would be the same thing as the Favre situation. But, Rodgers has eroded his welcome in GB the last few years. The Cali progressive ivory tower passive aggressive crybaby attitude goes against the grain in GB. People wake up, go to work, drink some beer and worship the Packers. We are a city of 120,000 mostly blue collar hard working people. Big city drama isn't in our DNA. So, this all boils down to one big question. Can Love play? If he can than whatever get 3 first rounders for a 37 year old qb immediately please. Problem is we have no idea. We haven't seen him play and the media hasn't seen him play because of limited access due to Covid. One last thing I will leave here... Rodgers frustration with the Packers is not about Jordan Love specifically, it’s not as if he’s so threatened by Jordan Love, it’s about the fact that they use a first round pick to draft a position that they didn’t desperately need at the time a position that just happens to be the position that he plays, they could have use that pick to draft a much needed offensive weapon to help him and Devante Adams. But the whole issue first started when the Packers hired Matt Lafluer and he said Rodgers wouldn’t be allowed to audible that was a big issue and it dominated the majority of their offseason, then the decision to draft a QB in the 1st round that they didn’t need happened, then the decision in last year’s playoffs to kick a field goal inside the 5 yard line instead of keeping the ball in his hands and going for the touchdown happened. His frustration with the Packers is understandable unless you’re a grumpy old man ex quarterback.

Rodgers makes half the teams in the league a super bowl team? With all due respect he hasn't been able to do that with the Packers for 10 years and it's not going to be easier somewhere else where he'll be in a new system and any less than a championship will be looked at as a failure.

I’ve been a lifelong Packers fan, and I’ve had enough of Rodgers. Don’t trade him, make him lose 40 million. This is all jealousy. He’s the best QB I’ve seen, but he’s 38. What if part of the reason he got better was from ACTUALLY following the HC’s game plan this passed year during his mvp season? Also, this is a business and a game. He’s the the owners, we are. Rodgers should have called on us?! I’m almost not joking?! And jake kumerow... give me a break

He's been acting like a baby. He's getting paid $40M+ and as long as he's winning, he's playing. He's worst than Favre was. It was the same. Favre was pissed they picked Rogers. They don't have to maximize nothing, they can make him retire. They should get cap relief. If we see Rogers leave, it's on him.
Simon Dewitt
Simon Dewitt Acum 12 Zile
If anyone should understand this situation its Rodgers and yet here he is complaining. He was Jordan Love 16 years ago. The Packers consistently blow their first round pick but because they wasted it last year on a QB is suddenly different than wasting it on a terrible corner or linebacker? Come on Rodgers you're better than this. Anyone who is on board with this "no WRs drafted in the first round, get him some help" nonsense has never watched a Packers playoff game. Rodgers is let down time and time again by his defense so it seems to me that addressing it and trying to fix it would be a good idea.

The similarity is that the both QBs were upset when a rookie QB was drafted in the first round. The difference is that Brett Favre had nothing to prove as a Packer and was reluctant to relay the torch. It's just that the fans were upset because he's wearing a different uniform. Aaron Rodgers wants to finish as a Packer. But he just doesn't want to be there right now.

Derek Gabrys
Derek Gabrys Acum 12 Zile
I'm from WI and he can go. Things seem to be so bad that he can't return now without having his tail between his legs. The Packers have not done some things right and they never seem to want to go all in to try and get the surrounding talent to get over the hump for another Super Bowl. They should have discussed the Love draft choice with him. They sent the message that Rodgers would be out after the 2023 season anyway and Love will be in. Rodgers probably thinks if he only has another two years max with the Packers he'd rather go somewhere else where he feels he would have a better shot at another ring. That said, Rodgers is a primadonna, gets paid $40 million a year but seems to want to be the QB, coach, and GM rolled into one and consulted on every decision within the organization. He's a great QB and is better than Favre was but with his personality he never got the love...no pun intended that Favre got in Green Bay. He just isn't that beloved here. Maybe it's because he is a little too California for us drunken, down to earth Wisconsinites. Regardless, the last thing you want is the leader of your team causing major drama and not wanting to be there. I'll take the rebuild at this point I guess. The fact that Rodgers doesn't speak to any of his family anymore is a red flag about him as well.

They’re gonna wait till after June 1st when they can split up the salary cap hit and then trade Aaron Rodgers. If they trade him before June 1st they have to take the hit on the salary cap this year. If they wait till June 1st they can split up the salary cap hit. I’m betting in June or after he gets traded. It’s all about the salary cap hit they take. Think smart people.

Lost championship game last year because of Kevin King was on pain killers and they had no one else to fill in Lost the year before because the defense couldn't stop the 49ners running the ball all over them. Lost a few years ago to the Falcons because they couldn't cover Julio Jones Lost to the Cardinals one year after two hail mary passes by Rodgers because they couldn't cover Larry Fitzgerald. Rodgers legacy is in part his TD/INT ratio, he wont purposely throw INTs, and if he sits on the ball they can bench him. There's no real reason to trade him at the moment. Trade him now and the picks you get back will suck cause Rodgers will make that team good. Also the salary cap relief doesn't really help you because free agency is already over... their best strategy is to wait a year and trade him next year that way they can ensure they get the highest possible pick.

@Doghouse Riley Lombardi never spent draft capital on Bart Starr's replacement. Further, Vince was a fantastic evaluator of talent. In large part due to his lack of racism and open-mindedness to black athletes. Comparing Lombardi's skill as GM to what's-his-name is ludicrous. However, the main reason I alluded to Vince Lombardi is his all-out drive to win championships. Tell me how the Jordan Love pick moved the Packers toward a Super Bowl. It was a pick that cost the Packers their best chance to win a championship for the next four years at least. Lombardi would have never have done that to Starr.

I have not been a rogers fan since he became the head QB and am a greenfan since i was 14... Am glad his not going to be a packer, but if he wins a Súper bowl with another team he deserves all the credit in the world and shows it wasnt him that couldnt win again in greenbay. But i also think his been the problem just like he gets all the credit for winning i give him all the blame for loosing...

@Shane Burton i always thought he wasn't the best for the packers, and he is overrated. he has lost big games by making big mistakes, or not taking chances. his good but not great. his name gets thrown around with the top QBs of all times. he has only won one ring. so he gets good numbers threw out the season, big deal if you can't even get to the super bowl. his 37 and his no tom brady, he has been the QB for 13 years or so and he has only won, one ring. he told his defence with minutes left "stop him" in the bucks game. they stop tom brady, he gets the ball 3down he gets a clear path for a TD he dives, he would have got the credit if they would have won so he deserves all the blame because he lost it for packers. his not that great never has been if he was he would have more rings.

85 percent chance Rodgers plays in Green Bay for the 2021 NFL Season

The Packers are to blame for Aaron Rodgers' unhappiness. They kept McCarthy and Ted Thompson longer than they should have, they fired Rodgers' QB coach without informing him, and Mark Murphy tells Rodgers to not be the problem. Also, they released Jake Kumerow before the 2020 season, who played very well the season prior, and was a guy that Aaron Rodgers loved so much. Rodgers has every reason to be angry with them.

They traded up to draft Brandon Aiyuk. SF got him before Green Bay could draft him. This is terrible, national media style analysis.

@Brandon P. 1. There isn’t any evidence anywhere in the world that Rodgers didn’t like Ted Thompson. Many fans didn’t, but I’ve never heard of Rodgers not liking him. Ted drafted him, btw. 2. Problems with McCarthy didn’t become “a problem” until his last year in GB (2018), maybe the year before (2017) at the earliest. Fans wanted him gone in 2015, after the Seattle loss, but the rift between McCarthy and Rodgers didn’t start to surfacing until couple years after. 3. Before Aaron Jones, the Packers had Eddy Lacy, who was good for 2-3 years, and before that, they had Ryan Grant, Rodgers’ first couple seasons. Between the two, they had James Stark, who was decent, but was never utilized enough because Mike McCarthy was running his “over-the-top” West Coast offense, where it didn’t matter if the opposing defense knew GB will pass every meaningful down, didn’t matter if GB “didn’t scheme the receivers”, they still got 300-400 passing yards and 4 TDS at will, because they were so good at passing. And it worked very well, until it didn’t, until Rodgers started getting injured, and WRs weren’t as good anymore. And that’s when there was a problem of McCarthy still trying to play that way, even though the situation has changed. But I have never heard of Rodgers complaining, that he got to throw 70% of plays, instead of 50%, and handing over the ball to to a running back the other 50%. It might not have been good for the team overall, once it didn’t work anymore, but Rodgers was the main beneficiary of it, and he didn’t complain. Maybe Stark would have been a very good RB, if he was given the ball more often. Or maybe Aaron Jones (5th round pick) would have been another James Stark, if they were still running McCarthy’s offense (oh, wait, he was, until LaFleur came. 4. 2011 defense was bad. 2009, and 2010 were good. 2011 defense was bad, btw, even before Nick Collins got injured. 5. Jake Kumerow had an amazing 2019 season. Should probably be included in the Pro Football HoF just based on that season. 12 receptions, one TD. The year before - 8 receptions, one TD. All the hype about him before the season was based on his performance on Oneida St in August last year. I do think it would be nice to ask your QB, which WR he would prefer to keep (Kumerow or Taylor), since he is the one who will be throwing to them, and has been here for decade-and-a-half, and presumably knows something about football and receivers, but let’s not act like Kumerow was the second coming of Jeff Janis (where is he, btw?). Summary, you and many other fans are extrapolating your frustrations with the franchise on Rodgers, who has his own problems with the management - very real problems - but not the same as yours.

I don't get the whole MM and TT slant as to justify Aaron Rodgers's anger. Both have been gone for 3 years. Mike McCarthy has been replaced by a coach who rebirthed Rodgers career and Ted Thompson is dead. So why would you pick a fight with people who aren't them? TT didn't sign any free agents! Well Gute has and they have been very successful signings. MM isn't creative and ruined Rodgers's career by having simple WR routes. Well MLF is and has rebirthed Rodgers's career. And the whole Jake Kumerow thing....he had 200 yards. Yes he liked him. But is his justification of retiring and letting his teammates, coaches, fans and community down worth it for that?

@Sphere723 drafting his replacement last year as the only first round pick in at least 10 years is petty? Okay!
Brandon P.
Brandon P. Acum 12 Zile
@Sphere723 I agree. The Packers certainly did do some great things for Rodgers over the years. Problem is, the fact that they kept Ted Thompson and Mike McCarthy too long wasted several years of Rodgers' career. Thompson and McCarthy should've been gone after the 2015 season. Also, Rodgers never really had a run game until 3 years ago when Aaron Jones came along. Before that, he was basically carrying the team on his shoulders. He also never really had a defense with the exception of 2011 when they were top 10 and won the Super Bowl. With that being said, while the Packers did do great things for Rodgers, they also disrespected him in ways that were unacceptable.

A battle of egos. The Pack won't admit that Rodgers has all the leverage. Rodgers is done with them, and would rather see them start Jordan Love, just because he can force their hand The Pack has packed themselves into a corner. It's either the GM or Rodgers. Stay tuned.....

@thehistoricalgamer You think Jeopardy wasn't a ploy by Rodgers? He was showing The Pack they need him far more than he needs them. He'll be just fine in Cal, shooting tv shows. He's planned this out for months....

The other option is force him to sit out and lose a year of his short remaining career.

I bet Jordan Love on his first day in the NFL felt all warm, cuddly and loved by Aaron Rodgers? You must live in fantasy land if you think his Packers teammates don't feel betrayed by him right now.
